A Breath of Fresh Air

Ongoing studies are continuing to amass evidence that indoor air may be even more harmful than the outdoor environment. Some respiratory illnesses, coughing, nasal congestion, dizziness, and headaches can be directly related to the indoor air pollutants we come in contact with especially in the winter. These pollutants, which are released by chemical cleaners, various fibers, smoke, ink, paints, paper products, and aerosols to mention a few, have no way to escape as we keep windows and doors closed to ward off the cold. Bottom line, your health may be at risk!

Combating indoor air pollutants can be achieved in part by ventilation, but also by selecting home or office plants proven to filter these common toxins. NASA, through extensive research, has concluded that one 10" plant every 100 square feet will work to filter enclosed environments.

In addition to filtering pollutants, plants provide humidity in the air through transpiration, raise our comfort level, and make us feel more at ease in our indoor setting. Studies have also shown that working with and being surrounded by plants is therapeutic and helps to reduce stress. Plants in homes and offices create not only a healthier environment, but a more pleasant one as well.
